Milhaven Guinea Pig Rescue is run by Joanne, an ex veterinary nurse, and a small team of family and friends. Jo has helped and cared for guinea pigs most of her adult life, she has vast knowledge and experience in caring for cavies. Having worked with small animals in a professional and personal manner, she is fully aware of the level of care and attention these beautiful animals require. Hundreds are abandoned, abused, used for medical research, neglected or unwanted every year, through no fault of their own. They are loving, trusting, friendly and a pleasure to own, they are calming, gentle and often quite amusing little animals who never ask for much more than a loving owner. For this reason, Milhaven Rescue was born.

Milhaven Rescue Meet Sir Thomas Ingilby
A short time ago, Milhaven Rescue were invited to attend a photo shoot with some of our piggies to appear in a press release advertising historical hotels for The Great Inns Of Britain. We were very honoured to meet Sir Thomas Ingilby, owner and 6th Baronet of Ripley Castle.
The photo above shows, from left, John and Sue Rudden owners of a lovely hotel in Grassington, Sir Thomas, Joanne- founder of Milhaven Rescue, Caitlin and Simon Heaton owners of a lovely hotel in Halifax and of course Norman the piggy!
More New Babies
Blossom, one of five lovely piggies that were rescued from grim conditions, has just given birth to a gorgeous little baby. We are very proud of her as she is only around 5 months old herself! Well done Blossom.
Another of our pregnant ladies, Willow, has given birth to two gorgeous babies. We are so proud of her as she is only a little more than a baby herself. Well done Willow! The babies can be seen on the 'In the Nursery Page'.
Mildred, who was pictured on our Nursery page, as a pregnant girl, has now been taken off the page. Sadly, Mildred seemed to have had a phantom pregnancy where she had all the signs of being pregnant, including weight gain, but no babies. Mildred is now recovering before being partnered with a friend.
A Big Thank You
Well done and thank you to 10 year old Katie, and little brother Tom, for raising £20 for Milhaven Rescue. We are extremely touched that Katie and Tom went to the trouble of picking apples, making pies and selling them to raise much needed funds for our guinea pigs. Thank you from the staff and all the Milhaven piggies, for your support and for helping raise awareness of guinea pig rescue and the work that we do here, your both little stars!
